Replacing tail badge

Hi Everyone

I have a 96 Targa with the targa badge on the tail, I have always thought about changing this for the nice 911 script badge. Is this easy to do? Are they just stick ons? Do they leave a mark like bluetack?! Would it look tacky? Thinking of doing RSRs and Bilsteins as well, following the various threads here and on PH about cats etc. Car needs some TLC after the crappy winter we've had.

I've not changed the badge myself but I need to because a small piece of the solver colour has come off.

Other threads say it's easy - . Measure where your old badge is - looks odd if you put back in wrong place. Use dental floss to "cut" between the body and the badge. New badge comes with glue ready to stick on.

However, personally, I'd leave it saying Targa - I think the targas are cool and need to distingush themselves!

It does come off easily, just held on with glue and the new badge comes ready to just stick on.

Have you tried the stealers for a badge? Ebay is another source.

Got mine from OPC £14 ish

Email me if this pic does not come out

Not changed the badge on mine but have some experience of applying transfers and logos to other things.

A good idea I have used to ensure the alignment is to make cardboard templates (cornflake packets or similar will do). In this case from the engine lid edge and sides of the engine lid before removing the old badge. Remove the old badge and adhesive, clean the area with panel wipe or similar then tape the templates in place with masking tape and align the new badge to the templates.

I changed mine, they are held on with double sided tape, use a hairdryer to warm up the glue,
then use a thin plastic ruler to slice it off, then T-cut the sticky trail off, do not use anything metal to slice it off
it could scratch the paint

just peel the back off the new ones and push it on, make sure you line it up correctly

really easy

On my 964 I had the badge from a 996 (millenium or celebration), it just said 911 in chrome.
It came ready spaced on a backing sheet, so all I had to do was remove the old badge, polish out the adhesive residue and stick the new badge on.
