I recently had my rear near side TPMS fail and thought I’d share how to resolve without having to pay main dealer prices.
It took a lot of searching online to find the right replacement code for 997.2 and the prices vary wildly, however I found a set of 4 from Autodoc.co.uk for £111.20
They are made by BHsens (A joint venture of Baolong & Huf) and replace the OEM ones, ‘plug & play’
What I discovered is that the batteries (not replaceable) will only activate with centrifugal forces during wheel motion and will go back to sleep after a period of inactivity which explains why I still have 3 original sensors still working since new in 2011.
The tyre shop I used had a sensor which confirmed the batteries were all still good, including the failed one, but couldn’t account for the reason for the faulty one.
Anyway the code I used is RDE048 which comes with valve kit RDV021 silver valve stem as shown below, along with the original faulty one. I’ll replace the other three when they fail or when I next change the tyres, whichever comes soonest.
I just reset TPMS using dash controls and drove for less than 1 minute above 30mph and missing TPMS pops up on dash automatically.
