Replacing wheel centres

I have a 987.2S, only had it for a few months, the car was and still is in amazing condition, the only gripe is the wheel centres. They were looking shabby when I bought the car and it’s still bothers me.

genuine Porsche are very pricey. Normally I’d go for genuine but with wheel centres I’m happy to look around. Etsy/eBay have some which cannot be genuine but look damn close.

anyone gone down this route?
changing them appears super easy!

Could try Marts500 on Boxa.net

Crested centre caps

They tend to fade over time unlike the genuine ones but they are so inexpensive compared to the Porsche ones you could afford to change them every other year and still make a big saving.

I’ve tried both. Cheap

ones lasted one winter. They are stickers on a plastic cap. Look okay from a distance but very inferior.

On mine the stickers weren’t well cut nor well stuck down

have a couple of sets. One colour. One mono chrome. I often swap them out just for a change when I clean the car.

Cheap for a reason. They don’t last but they are pennies. They look ok.

buy a set. spray on some lacquer.

Enjoy for 6 months

keep the first set for winter. Buy a new set for sumner.

I have a good genuine set of coloured ones. I sometimes “treat myself” and the car by running them for a week or two

Wheel crests, I love them as I often think that without them the car looks "unfinished", however in numerous Porsches EVERY car of mine has had the crests "corrode", they are a pain. I also find that these days Porsches Alloys are prone to the lacquer lifting and corroding or as the OPC will call it "stone chips"

Historically I always just bough a new original Porsche set, however will look to one of the auto breakers (like Charles Trent) on ebay for a good recovered set

On this topic, has anyone found a cheap version of the Porsche centre cap removal tool ? Genuine centres are expensive but £40 to remove them is ridiculous!!!!! Or are people just using an old coat hanger 😂

Small allen key to remove.

I have the gold crests from Marts500 on Boxa.net

Had them on 3 or 4 years now and they still look mint.

yes, found some on Etsy. Good quality and perfect fit. from memory around 25gbp delivered for a full set. don't remember the shop name off hand but I googled it in the first place as OPC were too expensive.
