Replica!

Back in the early 90s I owned a Covin 911 Turbo replica - sadly this is the only pic I have of it.

Now I know replicas are a bit of a taboo subject for some people, but I was wondering purely out of nostalgia and interest if anyone can comment on how authentic it looks.

Is anything amiss and if so, what?

For anyone that's interested, it had a 2.8 litre Ford V6 in the back and water lines that ran underneath the car to the radiator in the front.

In the event it wasn't reliable, mostly because the engine was mated to the driveshaft by a spacer which caused the starter motor to sometimes not engage. But I was a naïve young Porsche nut in my early twenties.

I think back in the day these replicas were quite popular but nowadays they must be rarer than the real thing!

From a quick look, the details look quite good, but the rear overhang looks a bit short.

i remember reading an article about someone who bought one when 3.2's were current and finished with the line something like "I drive a corvin not a Porsche, who could afford to drive one of those ?".

With the prices 3.2s & SC's fell to, I would have thought most Corvins have long since rotted away into obscurity. Wonder if the remaining ones will come back as prices of the real cars rise.
