After publishing my Furum post in last months PP "Boxster soft top removal"

I stand corrected on the gearbox's that I described as motors.

I think your advisor has confused the Pushrod (Porsche description) and the Gearbox Lever or as I described them "motor brackets", in fact these are two seperate items.

I advised to look on page 79 in the hand book and to remove the Pushrod's from the Lever arms which is clearly shown (No mention of removing the lever's from the gearbox!)

You DO NOT need to remove the gearbox lever to remove the hood only the pushrod's that are connected to them. The motor does need to be moved with the hood disconnected so to allow access to the bolts that hold the roof onto the roll bar.

I had to remove the gearbox lever's only to replace the drip bins, I did not go into detail about this as I was only asked to describe removing the hood from the car.

The point of the post was to warn fellow owners that if the ball caps on the end of the pushrod becomes unnatached it will tear a hole in the bottom of the bin and water will leak into the cabin as it did on my car.

It is though a valid point that the lever arms could be fitted 180 degrees out of position but you have no need to move the motor while the lever arm's are removed, and therfore blind to refit them 180 degrees out. Being a mechanical engineer by trade I thought it common sense to refit the Lever's to the gearbox's in the same postion as they were before I removed them

No slight intended on your good self just covering the bases when someone points out a possible area of contention.
