Region 13 Report for January 2013
We started the year off well, with an enthusiastic and constructive meeting at the Hundred House, Great Witley. This place looks a good prospect for the future but keep an eye on the reports etc.
Steve has opened a new thread to update you on coming events and meetings.
This month, I am writing a "˜Calendar Report', to keep for reference. Steve put a concise series of dates on the forum on 30th
January, so many of you will already have knowledge of these and I am expanding the information.

26th, Tuesday Many of you know Andy Nevitt, a long time member of our Region. He is a champion canoeist and travels abroad in competitions. He has agreed to give us an illustrated talk about his adventures on the Rio Grande and in the Grand Canyon. Hopefully, we are arranging this to be at the Talbot Hotel, Chaddesley Corbett. Otherwise, it will be at the Hundred House. Watch for update.

Depending upon numbers, Lunch will either be at their premises or at The 'Four Alls', nearby, where Cotswold Region often gather.
Fiennes are real upmarket restorers, with many of their vehicles going to venues like Palm Beach and coming back with rewards. They do all the best cars. Should be a good day out.

May
16th Thursday. Our annual meet at Curborough along with West and East Midlands.
Cost again at £35 per car. Start at 12 noon, to walk the track and briefing. Food available as usual. Always very popular. If you are a beginner, one of the best ways to introduce yourself to a track before committing to anything more serious. Non-competitive, just do your own thing, with only you on the track and no special clothing needed.
Book your place by sending me a cheque for £35, made out to PCGB and marked on the back "Curborough". See February.

28th, Tuesday. A ride out today/tonight, to Affcot Lodge between Church Stretton and Craven Arms, arranged by Pat Henson, a long time devotee of R13. An opportunity for our members in the 'outback' to join us.
June
9th, Sunday Four Regions Concours at Hampton Court Castle, Hope under Dinmore, near Leominster. HR6 0PN.
Cotswold, Gloucester and North Wales are joining us.
We have been offered free entry to the grounds etc. if you turn up in a Porsche. Cars entering the competition will get a voucher for occupants to receive 20% discount for all food bought at the site catering.
A 15th century Castle, set in a 1000 acres of Parkland and Gardens.
Worthwhile coming to see even if you are not a 'polisher'.
Yes, we do have to pay for the Site, but, the Regions will cover that.
Thus, if you turn up in a Porsche, you will get free entry to the Grounds. Let me know if you wish to enter or just visit. ASAP.
16th Sunday An invite from Cotswold Region, to join them at Wellesbourne Airfield.
I was asked, "What is there ?" It is a "˜Wings & Wheels Event. Cost £5 per car for 2 people, ask me for an entry form. SAE please.
25th Tuesday Meeting place yet to be decided.
28th Friday For several years, we have combined our show or Concours night with our Will Gough's charity Classic Car Show. Separated this year but do come along in strength to support Will again. I believe it is Air Ambulance this year. Location to be confirmed.
Spring/Summer.
10th March Breakfast meet at Shelsley Walsh. Will Gough will give us further information on this. Now that Cosford Breakfast meet has ceased, this may be a good alternative. I believe, each month. See also Steve's updates.
TBA Many of you know Dave Griffiths ( D G Racing). Dave has a Local, The Horshoes, at Dorrington, about six miles South of Shrewsbury. They would be pleased to have us visit for a meet and lunch. It is proposed that we make two or three sorties during the summer, on a Sunday. Again, an opportunity for the "˜Northeners' to join us.
(2)
A visit to Ludlow Castle is also being investigated by Ian and Lesley Crosskell.
A great thank you to all who have contributed and there is more to come. Enjoy it.
Finally. Welcome to new "˜followers', Branson Poyner and Julie Crisp; Nick Gray; Gary Morris; Tim Nixon and of course, Steve Woodall; Pat Henson and Chris Kavanagh, long term stalwarts who have returned to the fold recently.
John Lord NB. Bookings for all paid events are only confirmed by receipt of an appropriate cheque.
