Repressurise engine oil

How best to do this after a lay-up?

Anyone know if the electronics on an '87 3.2 Sport will survive the time-honoured method of cranking a while with the HT lead off the coil before firing up?

Sideways,
I would simply take the fuse out of the front fuse box for the fuel pump.
Do this when you moth ball the motor -with it running, and the mtr will die.
Next time you crank it, the fuel will be gone.
That way your not injecting un-burnt fuel into the cylinders and diluting the oil.
Shame it has to be put away.

Thanks. Agreed that lay-ups are a Bad Thing.

Alas, the fuel system wasn't purged beforehand as you suggest.

I should still pull the fuse, but if the ignition circuit is live any residual fuel may cause the motor to fire. It is those first few seconds when the damage is done, unless the engine oil has been repressurised.

Is there a safe way (particularly for the electronics) to kill the HT side of the ignition circuit?

sideways,
you can still drain the fuel pressure via the pressure bleed port on the left hand fuel rail, its facing you, near the dizzy. Undo it a bit and fuel will drain out. Pull the pump fuse as well. To stop the iginition, you could pull the postive lead off the terminal on the coil. That should fix it.[:D]

Got it - thanks.

I'll disarm the battery while filling the engine bay with raw fuel - you probably assumed that elemetary precaution.
