Reprogramming keys?

Can i only get these done at Porsche?

Both my keys need reprogramming apparently so wanted advice on where they have to go!

Many thanks

Unfortunately, the keys can't be re-programmed to the car, unless you have the 24-digit bar code label which they were supplied with. These codes are not stored on Porsche's IPAS system at the factory, so unless they were replacement keys, and you still have the tags, they can't be re-programmed to the car.

You need new key heads, and have them re-programmed to the car. They can use the blades from your existing keys. An OPC, or any decent independent, will be able to do it for you. They will need to see your V5C as proof of ownership, by the way. They are about £90 each, plus programming.

Thanks Richard.

Porsche Silverstone are going to do the 'key' work next week, £109.40 inc Vat for the key, £60 inc VAT programming. So decided to get both keys done.

There is also a fault with the motor in the lock. o/s/f central locking motor/lock assembly i part is £135 plus VAT from Porsche, local electrical co to fit £49 plus VAT fitting (hourly rate) Not sure if i will be able to getpart elsewhere, Eurocar etc?

Is it that both keys will not operate the ignition or just that the remote doesn't work to open/close doors etc?

If just the latter (wasn't exactly sure what the issue was) then reversing the battery in the key momentarily
resets the key and allows resynchronisation of the wireless connection. Is reported on the forum elsewhere
and confirmed by Richard I think.

Shame to get new keys if it's just a synchronisation issue.

Ditto

The reprogramming is a 5/10 minute job if you have the key blades, you just need the remotes heads, mine was a touch under £90 6 months ago. Dont forget your PCGB 10% discount card.
