Requesting 944 purchase advice

Guest

Dear Porsche Forum,

I am considering to purchase a Porsche 944, 1985 model (middle model)
with
the following specifications:

metallic silver
2.5 litre
electric windows
sunroof
BBS wheels
Pirelli tyres
Pioneer stereo.

I am being told that the mileage is 90,000 km genuine mileage.

I have had the owner take me on a 10 minute spin, and handling was
excellent, but car was noisy. The explanation was that the exhaust
needed
changing to a silent one and would cost around 180 pounds.

The reason I am writing of course, is because I am new to Porsche, but
love
to own one.

I like what I see, but I don't know if I'm being sold fairly.

Originally, buyer was asking for 5000 pounds, and I've since managed to
drop
the price to 3000 pounds. He's selling as he's since purchased a new
Porsche.

Any advice as to what I should approximately be paying would be most
welcome?
also any advice on where to find spare parts at a fair price would be
welcome?
perhaps getting me in touch with fellow 944 owners might be an idea too.
should i be looking out for any particular or potential faults? and of
course membership of your prestigious club would be of interest.

thanking you kindly in advance for replying with some much needed advice
at
your earliest.

sincerely,
Vinnie

Hi Vinnie,

Does the car have a full service history and old MOT's to substantiate the mileage?

Hi Vinnie

I was wondering about the exhaust - is it actually faulty? And you said the car was noisy - was it just exhaust noise?

Another Dan [:D]

Hi Vinnie, you made it over here then.

I just realised from your Spanish phone number you're not UK based so I guess my left hand drive comments are not so relevant. Perhaps you'd do well to pick up a LHD 944 in the UK as they are significantly cheaper than RHD.

There's links to some useful buyer guides at the very top of this forum:

If it's an oval dash Lux then £3k seems a fair price. If it's pre-oval then it needs to be in excellent condition at that price

I've deleted your other post asking the same question as people would probably get sick of repetition [:D]
