Reserve fuel tank?

Hi

Just wondering - from the time the low fuel warning light comes on, how many litres of fuel are remaining in a standard fuel tank? I don't have the onboard computer, so I was wondering how far I can risk it. I've been stuck on a few m'ways in the past with the light on and the needle below the lowest paint marker for some time. By the time I got to the petrol station, I found myself filling 68.5 litres... How many more litres were really remaining? I understand that the regular tank is 70 litres, but is there a reserve somewhere?

Cheers -

I once got as far as the OBC saying there was 0 left and then filled up and got in just under 72 litres.....

although the needle was 'almost' the end, so about a litre of so left.....

On running the petrol down so low, don't you worry about any garbage that might be on the bottom of the tank being sucked up through the engine?

Funnily enough, I got my needle down to not moving tonight, the light had been on for 50 miles before I gasped into the Optimax pump .... 69 litres to brim it, over 362 miles.

That's enough brinkmanship for one day !

so your next target is to get beyond 72 litres !! [:D] although the accuracy of some garage fuel counters is indeed open to question...

btw, I though the fuel tank was 71 or 72 litres ?
