Reservoir Leak

I seem to have sprung a washer water leak from above the near side tyre. I know that the washer reservoir is located somewhere nearby, but have been informed that some older models also have a "super washer" reservoir which is also located nearby and details of which are not included in any handbook!

Looking in the bonnet, there is a maze of plastic tubes etc.. some of which seem to go to the headlight washers which have never worked since the 3 years I've had the car. I'm really a novice at auto DIY and looking for guidance on how best to approach this, or should I take it to a garage to sort out?

Thank you chaps - this is all very useful stuff and worth knowing! I particularly like Phil's improvisation. Are the electrical connections from the old to the new pump straightforward?

Nathan -You mentioned that the pump in the bonnet is only for the headlight washer (which I incorrectly assumed was the main windscreen washer pump). Therefore in order to gain access to the main reservoir electric pump and hose connections, do I have to remove the n/s wheel? If so, then presumably trolley jacks and axel supports will be needed to work on this - rather than just the basic jack used for changing tyres. I'm going to try and take a look this weekend and hopefully give it a go, but as you can tell I really am green!

The rubber tubes under the wing have totally perished and disintegrated, yet the washer STILL seems to work, albeit the tank only half fills before it starts to leak.
Isn't the pump that is located in the front n/s bonnet, near to the battery, the main screen wash pump? Nathan's comment has confused me by saying that it is the headlight washer.
If that is the main pump, why do I need to disconnect the old washer reservoir from the car if that pump is still working. Could I not just install a new reservoir in the bonnet on the other side of the bonnet and connect up the tubes to that pump?
Phill, when you said it took you a couple of hours, I assume you also rewired into the new pump.

The washer system on our cars is ridiculous.

I have ditched my headlight washers altogether and now replaced my original washer bottle (which is huge!) with a nice simple aftermarket all in one bottle and pump from Ebay for £10. The windscreen washer work very well now. The whole job took a couple of hours and the reservoir is now under the bonnet and not trapping mud under the wing.

The intensive washer bottle you speak of is simply an extra reservoir for putting in special Porsche intensive washer fluid.
