reset computer?...TURBO

Started the car this morning, it was very cold and damp but it started first time as usual. I got about 100 yrds taking it very gentle when the engine gave a small "cough" and the engine seemed to be in safe mode, idling OK but no throttle.
Stopped and waited for a couple of minutes with the engine idling but it did not clear.
Turned the engine off for 30sec. restarted and all back to normal, did about 60 miles, all OK.

I think I must have reset the computer by switching off?

What might have caused the problem?

Only two things were not as usual -
1) had to use standard petrol to get me home the last time I used the car, normal use optimax.
2) the car was soaking wet with condensation (outside), I presume the cone type Air Filter would have also been damp.

Would a wet Air filter cause enough overfueling to trigger safe mode?

All comments welcome......before you all shout DME relay, it's a new one.
