Residuals

I am interesting is buying a Cayenne (I will keep my other Porsche), but am concerned about depreciation. You may have read some of the posts on the Cayman forum regarding this subject. Given that VW are discounting Touaregs by £7K (Beadles advert in Daily Mail) I wonder if this will have a serious effect on Cayenne, especially given that they are almost the one and the same vehicle.

Hi Derek,Why not take advantage of the depreciation and buy a nearly new one and save a couple of grand? The negative image , the economic downturn, and the rising cost of fuel should all assist in driving the residuals South. Profit from it.
regards,
jr.

Derek, if you're worried about residuals, don't buy a Cayenne 4.5 or turbo.
They have been doing a grand a month and in one particular month the turbo did £5k[&:]

The 3.2/3.6 IF well specced are holding on OK - relatively speaking.

All you have to cope with then is the atrocious 2 year warranty[]

Cheers
Dave

Cayenne [:(]

Audi RS4 Avant - if 5 doors, 4wd, decent performance and some practicality really are essential. Residuals should be pretty good and at least it looks quite nice.

[] At the end of the day you pays yer money and you takes yer chance. Residuals on any vehicle of this type are never going to be strong ...... and don't start on about the consumption .....'cause that ain't good either (we've been down that road a dozen times already on the forum) and yes the 2 year warranty is pretty poor by todays standards (but it's the same for all new Porsches). The Cayenne is still one hell of a car ...... so if you want one, buy one.

Go for the S but keep the options down to a minimum. Only thing I'd recommend is the air suspension, but really not critical. Sunroof/satnav/bose/multi function wheel/xenons/20" wheels - all 'nice to haves' which I specced this time around but probably add nothing to residuals or driving enjoyment, but add a stack of money on the front end.

I have the same thoughts Derek. I am thinking of swopping my S for a GTS but have decided to hang on for a year with the theory that my S cant go much lower
but the GTS could drop a fair bit in the first year??

They are big hitters on residuals but hey what car is not!! I am next week part exchanging my wifes Cayenne S for a new one at Cardiff OPC. Bought pre owned from them in October 06 for 54K and they are giving me 32K as part ex for the new one!!

I shopped around but too be honest that was the best deal I could get! Never mind once you're in it you forget about small things like that - NOT!!

I feel that the S will still drop some over a further year, so I am passing our S onto my Daughter and selling her 6 pot Cayenne (complete with 9 months extended Warranty)

I will not be selling it to an OPC but to a Trader who will take less profit from the car. It may be worth offering it in the For Sale section here then somebody may buy it for less than the Trader would sell it, and give me more than the trader offers !

Back to residuals, my guess is that it has dumped 50% of it's cost in 28 months, but on the flipside my daughter has had an immense amount of pleasure driving it and it has earnt it's keep as a working vehicle and done about 33,000 trouble free miles.

I think one must accept that high priced cars loose more than low cost cars even if the percentage depreciation is the same.[:)]
