No support from HQ & no understanding that we (RS & RO’s) are volunteers & need assistance from time to time.
Keep an eye on the forum for future tours.
If you're referring to financial support, then the Club has always has been ambivalent towards Registers, preferring events to be promoted by the Regions, with Registers adopting more of a referral/advisory role.
I believe it was GaryW on this forum who really started the ball rolling with an active events Register and I was privileged to continue this later on.
During this purple patch, 997 Register organised around 4 -5 events per annum introducing factory tours, driving tours, drive and dine events, parties, exhibitions, shows, Christmas markets, technical meetings etc. - not to mention adventures in Southern France, 6 European countries and tour of Norway. Obviously these proved very attractive to members owning similar models and I can't remember an event that wasn't oversubscribed. [

But these were all self-financing. The Club provided no monetary support whatsoever. At every officials' meeting I attended, I suggested active Registers should receive a reasonable budget, similar to those for the Regions, but my pleas fell on stony ground! [
] Organising events is expensive and a drain on personal resources, particularly when there are several promoted throughout the year. There is really no incentive for RS's to do anything much at all.
IMHO, Registers are an extremely valuable structure within our Club, bringing together members of similar mind and interest. More support should come from the hierarchy. Members from all over the country come together and Judith and I have thoroughly enjoyed their company and made many life-long friends over the years in all parts of the UK, simply from these Register activities. This surely is what our Club's membership is all about. [

Regions play their part of course, but by their nature have to cover a broader band of members' interests and events are usually a little less focused.
Maybe HQ need to take another look at this. [8|]
