Respray Costs ?

Does anyone have any idea how much a full respray on an S2 would be ball park or has anyone had it done recently ?
Thanks

And would a colour change have any negative effects

Would add to the price....you're re-spraying all the parts of the car that are not exposed to damage and as such are still perfect. Like, engine bay, door shuts, boot area. All the bits that cost money to strip out.

Are you talking a bit of rust removal, stone chips on the front and a few small dents? Or, strip the interior, glass out, full body restoration?

I have a horrible feeling that asking for a respray price would fall into the "how long is a piece of string" bracket, but if you want a good idea of what's invloved take a look at Peter Empson's thread....

I wouldn't change the coloyr personally or buy a car that had had it's colour changed. If yours is white, I thought that white 944s always looked great

Im weighing up wether to throw even more money at mine and getting it mint, so sort out sills, rotten areas under front wings and rust spots around number plate and while the paint is in the gun do it all. OR do I get it fixed up to a budget and sell it. To maybe buy 944turbo or cab or 968 or 964 ? Dont know ?

Andy you've put so much work into that car I say better the devil you know...

When I was getting quotes most ended up in the £3-4K category for a same colour respray, although this did include a few extras that most people wouldn't want (painted wheels etc) and some sill work. This was for a full windows out job, I don't doubt it's possible to have a much cheaper job done, but if you're keeping it then it's money well spent.

A colour change could be fun, I've been so tempted by viper green recently [:)] I'm a coward however and don't think I have the guts [:(] There's still time to change my mind though

Do you want a mint car? In which case a never-ending road beckons.....

Have you considered settling for a really good car? In which case, stick with yours long-term.....[&:]

Peter Where did you take yours in the end ?
I know such a lot has already been put into it, so far in just over 12mths buying the car and spending what i have has cost £10k, on a vehicle that would be worth £5 - 6 max (if i got the sills done). And your right better the devil I know. So Im just getting an idea of what it would cost me to get it into really good shape and to keep and enjoy.
Andy

Hi Andy,
It's with a guy called Alan at Kimpton (in Herts) and he came highly recommend. I'm hoping to go and see it again soon so will post some more pics of the progress [:D]

Peter , Just gone through your thread on your restoration, hope mine wont be like that! but knowing my luck!
Regards

Mine was striped back to the metal all windows out and complete respray after all body work carried out respray for top job and I do believe you get what you pay for aroung 4k 3 years ago. but you can see how she looks from my earlier post.

I took the car to a specialist today and is everyone sitting down. I was quoted £9500 for the sills, repair underside of wing and respray ! I must add that I wont be getting it done there !

Cripes! What were they on???

Given you're in Oxfordshire I'd recommend getting a quote at Top Gun, they are certainly not the cheapest but they do nice work (painted my spoiler and did a great job). There's also a place at Woburn (TABS) who I nearly took my car to who are a good option, but a bit further away.

That does sound expensive. I've not had a formal quote but the body shop I spoke to, that is experienced with Porsches, said a glass out respray is around £3k, any work carried out to repair corrosion/replace body panels is over and above.

I feel sure there is an extra zero in there (or they really didn't want the work)
