Respray recomendation

Hi Guys,

The time has come for a respray, much polishing over the 20 odd years has rubbed the colour away on some sharp edges, metalwork to the wings front and rear and a stone chip on the leading edge of the roof, Oh and a fight between a cat and fox on the bonnet (I kid you not, so many scratches on the bonnet that will not "buff out") make it about time to give it a lift.

I am in Surrey, Reigate anybody had any good reports of a decent re-sprayer. I have a couple of bits of metalwork to be done, not cills, very small items so would like that done at the same time.

Also, would I be right in thinking around £2k as a bill for this type of job.

Ian

depends on how much you want to get painted, I was quoted £500 just for the roof, from more than one place.

if your thinking about the front end and roof, think 3K would be closer, and as you have a cobalt car it might end up a few shades different.

Not very close but if you want to travel a little you'd be hard pushed to find somewhere better than 911 Bodyshop in Wembley North London. My car had a full glass out respray there more than 15 years ago now and a few touch ups since due to damage, not of my making I might add. If matching paint you want somewhere that takes the time to measure the colour properly with a Spectrophotometer. For me, this involved the fuel cap cover being sent off to the paint manufacturer (Sikkens IIRC) for proper matching after my car received some damage on the rear quarter. If money was no object I'd get her resprayed again, you can't beat that new fresh paint look...perhaps SWMBO will let me one day....:)

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies. I was planning on respraying the whole car. So recommendations on that basis.

On that basis mine cost me over £3.5k, as I said this was more than 15 years ago now, so I would expect a higher cost today...

You'd think, I contacted a big paint supplier and they wanted a body part for days , they were going to charge £35 I think it was, and then they wouldn't guarantee to match Alpine White.

my 944 s2 is turkish blue which was hard to match if i was you i would go to a paint supplier with a maxmeyer paint system as this system matched mine perfect the code should be inside the boot on a label i would then go to the paint shop with the match made up oh i painted my own

So you painted your own car do tell me more. I like a bit of diy would you mind messaging me so we can have a chat?
