Restoration Advice Please

I've just started some restoration work on my wife's 1980 911SC Targa as a surprise for her Birthday in a few weeks time.

The mechanics are being handled by my local mechanics but I need some advice on other stuff that needs doing:

I want to replace the carpets - I've looked online and there are lots of people offering full carpet sets from £250 to £600 - does anyone know what to look for or who is any good out there?

Front Seats - again the seats themselves are in OK condition but the velour/ vinyl is knackered. Re-Trims seem to be anything from £500 to £800 so I am wondering if a replacement set of front seats would be a better bet?

Finally the black plastic (?) covering on the metal targa section has peeled off - does anyone know how to fix this or should I just get it stripped back to the bare metal and leave it - I think I have seen some cars like this.

Any advice gratefully received. [:D]

you can't beat Southbound for service and quality in my experience. The Targa bar can be repainted (it is painted) but be careful removing it , leave it to the pros preferably. I can't recommend anyone in your area but there must be someone , maybe post an enquiry on the main discussion page for a paintshop over in Wilts.
