Retro Fitting Options

Hi all,
Just a quick note for anyone that may be interested, I have successfully added the multi function wheel controls to my 987S with PCM 2.1. Porsche don't offer this option as tequipment so i was taking a risk trying it out. /the result with some help from my opc is everything works as per OEM. Parts sourced from e bay , labour charge about 120 pounds.

OPCs are not supposed to recode the central ECU to add options not sopecced at the factory build - i assume they had to code with the PIWIS ??

I'd like to know which OPC - i want to add cruise !

Well , if OPC's are not supposed to do this work then i'd better not drop them in it. The coding is not the DME module but the PCM and Steering wheel control units. I've also had the rear CU unit recoded to Uk standard after fitting the tilt sensor and batter backed siren. My experience with the OPC's is you need to take some of the responsibility off their shoulders by fitting the hardware yourself , then asking for a re code with no expectation or liability if it fails to work. Most service centres are happy to charge you 100 pounds for their time on this basis , but get very nervous about fitting used parts or accessories not listed as tequipment or without any Porsche approved procedure. The MFW is made by the same people that make VW units. Richter sport in MK who operate out of the main VW dealership , offer retro fitting of virtually any VW OEM accessory or factory fit option. This suggests that there is low risk to fitting options providing the hardware works and is compatable with your year of car. Alternatively there are some independants like JZ machtech who have few issues with retro fitting and re coding customers cars. If you need some help with retro fitting cruise , drop me a pm, i'll see what I can do.
