Retro-fitting original Porsche Park Assist

Dear all,

Looking at a used Cayenne S but w/o Park Assist - which I want very much. Can the original Park Assist be fitted into a Cayenne S without Park Assist? By a dealer?

Drill holes, paint the sensors, hook up the wires, install the LED modules front and back, install the on/off switch in the overhead console, etc. Ummmm ....

Any yes / no / may be comment is very well appreciated in advance.

There is a company that makes a system using sensors in the rear licence plate. There is no drilling or re-painting and only uses two sensors. Very neat but, trouble is, I can't remember who. I might be able to dig out the details

My advice to you is "dont do it". I did and am regretting it. Had it retro-fitted by an official Porsche centre, but they could not get it to work and eventually had to rip it all out and replace the bumper which had been drilled. They left the rear sensors but they are not working now. Needless to say, they didn't tell me that they were not fitting Porsche parts.

James,

My theory, at least, is that if a Cayenne S with Park Assist ever got into any kind of an accident, the dealer should be able to fix it - together with other systems. Sorry to hear about your situation. [:(] Also saw the following:

Retro-fitting aftermarket Park Assist.

To date, I have not been able to get a quotation from the two local Porsche Dealerships ... so I don't know what would happen to me. May be more waiting for the right car, I suppose.
