Hi All,

Has anyone ever got the cruise control retrofit done on their car? If you have, have you had any issues or has it worked completely fine?

I'm definitely getting this done in a few months time but would appreciate any feedback out there.

Thanks,
Ray

Hi Ray,

Yes I have had it done to my 2004 C2S tiptronic.

Very easy, it took Porsche Brooklands about 2 hours... The wiring is already there so it is straight forward.

Any OPC or decent specialist can do it for you. I got a discount as PCGB member... Works really well...

Hope that helps. JP

Hi

My Gen 11 GT3 had it fitted by Cardiff OPC when nearly new and all has been fine. Can't remember how much though don't recall it being excessive. Worried about the increased speeding fines announced yesterday? [:(]

Thanks fellas.

Happy to hear that the wiring loom and all is there for it too.

I use cruise control a lot. So easy to cruise over the speed limit. So I have missed it ever since having my new baby.
Increased speeding fines! missed that one. Defo need it now then :)

Got a price from OPC £552 incl VAT. Waiting to see what discount I will get.

thanks again!

Extra wiring needs adding to connect cruise control to loom, so it needs a competent electrician, Should cost around £500.

I had cruise fitted by Porsche Bristol last year.
The cost is approximately £500 and it works very well.
I considered DIY with used modules appearing at around half the price but, I imagined you'd still need to visiy OPC to have it enabled (??)
All things considered, assurance, warranty etc... I went with OPC and recommend the same despite considering myself a competent & enthusiastic DIY er..

Perfect Tam.
Yes, it's something I will definitely get my OPC to do. It's not as expensive as I thought it would be.
I will update once I have it fitted. Glad that they do not have to completely strip car or anything.

Cheers,
Ray

I can't remember the exact cost, but mine was fitted by Porsche Service Centre Brooklands (not full OPC but definitely not an indie either)... I paid around 400 quid inc VAT & labour, with a discount for being PCGB member.... I had this done 12 months ago... OPC West Sussex quoted me a similar price with the discount.... 500 sounds a tad high...

I had both my Caymans done, about £450, but they did a fantastic job, (Exeter OPC), and if you looked at the steering column where the control is, you cannot see that it has been added on after the original build. I would recommend getting an OPC doing it, otherwise if it looks at all like an afterfit, you'll see it every time you get in the car. Mind you , I'm not saying an independent won't do it properly, but I wouldn't take the chance.

Yes I've fitted the cruise control myself straightforward a and easy to do. I bought parts off ebay (4column stalk) sold the 3 column stalk in the same way, total cost £40.
Coding using durametric pro not successful 9could be my lack of experience) so had it coded with recently fitted paddle shifters at local specialist for £50. Works perfectly and useful for the average speed camera stretches.
