Retrofitting M030 sports suspension.

Are there different sets for the C2 and the C4? I'd like to upgrade to something firmer but want to have porsche parts all round.

I'm interested in getting the M030 setup, after driving my friends C4S that is quite a lot firmer and lower.

But I don't want to effect the Porsche Warantee.

I don't think aftermarket suspension would affect the warranty but they would obviously not cover suspension related issues. You would probably have to declare to the insurance company though. As suspension is a consumable I wouldnt worry to much anyway.

I ordered mine from Carnewal some time ago and Gert was very effecient and helpful without pressure. I opted for the whole kit including shocks, springs, roll bars etc. as I guess it would work better together and some of my components would be at the end of their life.

I had it fitted by Camtune in London (well, they collected from Docklands anyway).

Made a big difference to the car and lowered it very slightly. Can be a bit harsh on the road at times - little firm and transmits noise to the cabin - but on balance well worth it.

I agree that it can be a bit too firm on occasions, especially on the cr*p road surfaces we have around here. One of the most expensive areas in the country to live, but they spend nothing on the roads!

I actually fitted standard shockers to mine not long after I bought it. It made it slightly more 'compliant', but not a huge difference. Neil and Paul, I would definitely recommend finding someone who will give you a run in an 030-equipped car before taking the plunge.

Thanks.. I think thats a good idea. Interestingly JZ Mantech seem to think the suspension seems to make hardly any difference at all [8|]

I've done my research and the ebay set doesn't include the antiroll bars so it's not such a great price after all. A new kit is not much more.

If there is anyone in London who could give me a demo ride I'd appreciate it.

I have the sports suspension option on mine. Bit far for you to come and try it though. Does tend to make the odd thing rattle in the car that doesn't on a standard car. Am currently working my way to dampen them out !!!

Would I be right in saying the M030 setup is the same as the standard fit C4S setup ?

I'd driven a mates C4S and it's a LOT firmer... and to be honest, for everyday driving on rubbish roads, probably not my cuppa tea... but I may buy a Mini Cooper S soon and keep the miles off the C2... sooooo..... [8|]

An alternative to the lowered and firmed-up M030 setup is to fit the Bilstein B6 sports dampers. These are available as a set from Gert at Carnewal (very helpful guy) and give the car much tauter handling. All the bobbing up and down at the front disappears and the body control over lumpy-and-bumpy back lanes has to be experienced to be believed! As the setup uses the standard springs, your ride height stays the same as standard and is far better suited to UK roads (your front lip spoiler will not be grounding all the time) and the extra wheel travel prevents the 'bone hard ride' feel that can be experienced with M030.

Can't recommend this setup highly enough for general UK use - my thanks to Gert for recommending it.

Do you have contact details for Carnewal? I'm very interested in getting these fitted before my trip to Nurburgring. The "bobbing up and down at the front" is the only think I don't like about the current setup.
