Returning Newbie saying hi!

Hi - I've just renewed my PCGB membership after selling my Boxter S a couple of years ago.

I've just bought a 964 Carrera 2 Tiptronic in Horizon Blue, Tiptronic, comfort electric seats, Classic Grey Leather, 54k miles with full service history. Car is in great condition and have just treated it to the following:

- 17" OE Cup 1's (OE refurbished)
- Becker Cascade 7944 + iPod connector
- Clear indicator lenses
- Storage tray (in lieu of cassette holder)
- RS 3 Spoke steering

Had the car inspected and is mechanically sound, no corrosion/rust anywhere, brakes in pretty good nick (sligh lipping) but new rear pads required soon. Also looks like the bushes are slightly split so these will need doing!

I have noticed a lot of brake dust on the front wheels (haven't been driving particualarly hard) - is this common?

Also I would like to get a PCGB valuation on my vehicle for insurance purposes - can anyone advise how I go about achieving this?

Thanks

James

Sounds good & horizon blue is a great colour ( my previous 964)
Call porsche club office and they will send you a valuation form
Happiness is a 964 in the garage , even in winter [:)]

Hi James,

Great looking car, I came very close to buying a very similar car about 5 months ago, but it turned out to be in need of too much work.

Can I ask what sort of cost could I can expect for an OE refurb on a set of cup 1's similar to yours?

Enjoy,

Simon

Hi Simon

The refurbished OE Cup 1's were sourced from Porsch-Apart and I paid £1500 (al in with VAT + Tyres). Didn't seem to be massive difference compared to new replicas but still pretty expensive I think!

Cheers

James

I ask because I have a set of genuine cup 1's which I want completely stripping and refurbing. I have been quoted £80 + vat per wheel by one place. That was for re-painting as the factory finish. I was looking into powder coating but apparently this will not give the correct colour and quality of finish??

Can anyone shed some more light on the subject or recommend any good re-furb companies around the North West??

Simon

ORIGINAL: VITESSE

Makes my refurbished Cup2's plus Khumos cheap at £765!

I agree - however I think it was a case of supply vs demand... apparently there are no replica Cup 1s available due to back order constraints, in addition this was the only set of fully refurbished (not just facias) OE Cup 1s I could find... hence the price I guess.
