Returning to the fold.......944S2.....Kalahari Biege......you may know it.....

Hi All,

Just thought I would sign back in now I have returned to the 944 stable after a few years absence.

I wasnt really looking for another s2 (was very tempted by the silver rose that's for sale currently) but Eds car in Gold with some nice mods at a great price was too nice not to buy.

So far the things I love about are definitely the colour, gearshift, being able to play cassettes again ;) and who can forget the joy of pop up headlights :).

I have no immediate plans as Ed literally did everything to it. There is literally no "project" element to it which is rare when it comes to these cars. I am looking to see what trackdays are available between now and Christmas as would like to get a few on before then so if anyone is doing ones on a weekend within a 2-3 hr drive of London let me know.

I am based in the sth east London / Kent borders area if any other 944 owners fancy a catch up / drive / beer.

You probably got your hands on one of the best S2s going IMHO :). I shall not lie, if I did not have the 951, his car would have been a very strong contender.

No doubt it will serve you well, enjoy. It's great to simply drive an old car though eh? ;).

I remember you :) , yes i've left the fold too and only post on special occasions lol

Someone buying Ed's S2 is one of those occasions , if i wanted an S2 I'd have beet you to it for sure.

Well done for snaffling such a wonderful car

Mas

Took it for a nice blat this afternoon. Still gets up and goes when you rev it out in third and fourth. Feels a great steer on the kw's. handles nicely and loads of feedback through the steering wheel. As is typical, I have not seen many front runners around my way and then see a 944 Turbo cab and a yellow lhd 968 clubsport when I was out today :)

Welcome back Andrew, you picked a good example to come back with! Hope to catch up at a meet sometime [8D]

some more pics of the car. Shamelessly stolen from Edd [:D].....car definitely needs a clean......[;)]

i am going to drop the car into HP Motorsport for a quick check over before I hit the track again in Nov/Dec. Noticed as well there is hot air into the cabin every time I start the car....lasts for about 15-20mins and then reverts back to normal. Any ideas? Anyway....hopefully not too expensive. I had similar thing in my 964 and I think a new heater control servo was like £250!!! yikes.

took car for a spin last night.....dropped the missus at a Halloween party.....was going to be a £50 taxi.....screw that......put that into the 944 in petrol.......90 mins....nice drive......good fun this car. I did get a bit carried away not too far from my place and got pulled over......police then went through the following:

Police: Do you have any idea why we have pulled you over?
Me: I was possibly going a tad fast back there
Police: yes....you were doing at least 60 in a 30 zone
Me:....ah ok.............
Police: Can you please get out of the vehicle
Me:.............farkkkkkkkkk (to myself of course)
Police: Can I have your license
Me: handed it over
Police: is this your current address? are u local?
Me: Yes , just live around the cnr.....that is my old address
Police: that is usually a £1000 fine.....but we arent going to do that now
Me: Farrrkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Police: Look, you seem like a nice bloke (really??????).......just take it easy its a bit slippy out there tonight (does he not realise i am in a 944?? [:D]).....on your way
Me: ah ok........cheers mate...........sorry for that.............

Anyway.....i blame the 944..............it made me do it! [:)][8D]

I did think I was toast though............silly stuff by me. Wakey Wakey!

they were very cool about it though....could have been ALOT worse.

Ooo lucky escape there Mr Churcher!! [:D]

Good reminder to get the address changed, police pulling me once was how I got my reminder to change mine! lol

Lucky that the Policeman was in a good mood, but maybe he liked the car [:D]

I bet if you had been in a Imprezza, Evo, M3, RS4 or even a 911 it would have been a large fine and plenty of points?

According to an online calculation site

http://www.drivingban.co.uk/drivingban/free_legal_advice_help/speeding_calculator.htm

60 in a 30 on a clean license held for more than two years...

Calculations
Excess of speed limit 30 mph.
Percentage over limit 100%.
Equivalent speed in a 70 mph limit 140 mph.

Maximum penalty points? 6.

Do I face a driving ban? Yes

Will I receive a Court Summons? Yes.

Maximum driving ban? Up to 56 days.

Maximum fine? The fine is means tested up to £1,000 (Non Motorway).

All I can presume is they didn't think they could prove it...

I have seen this happen before to someone with them simply getting a caution notice, but then it was their job at stake (and them being uneployable). Suffice to say, they seemed to learn their lesson :).

Lovely car though Andrew. What a lovely S2 to buy with all of the right details :).

OR Was it.......

Police: Do you have any idea why we have pulled you over?
Me: you thought I was one of you
Police: yes and we were going to have a laugh
Me:....ah ok.............
Police: what is he driving now
Me: BMW
Police: Take it an M sport of some sort
Me: yes the baby one
Police: cool we will look out for it
Me: Nice one cheers fellers
Police: that is usually a £1000 fine.....but we arent going to do that now cause we are going to get something to eat
Me: Blimey
Police: Look, you seem like a nice bloke (really??????).......just take it easy its a bit slippy out there tonight (does he not realise i am in a 944?? [:D]).....on your way
Me: ah ok........cheers mate...........sorry for that.............

I did think I was toast though............[:D][:D][:D]

Lucky, but you admit you was going faster then should. That's the whole point in them asking.

Where abouts in Kent/ London are you? I live in herne bay and my gf London. Won't have seen me about much this year as my cars been with barks for what seems like most off it. Once its back there should be a few instersted threads to post

It's still only an S2 even if it did belong to Edd? [;)]. However, I suppose it is quite a pretty little car if you like that sort of thing [:D]. I love going out for Saturday or Sunday ragging's so, if you ever find yourself down this way Andrew then, please give me a bell mate and we can meet up for fish and chips at Brian's café on the seafront and then a ragging [8D][:D]!! This applies to everyone else on here of course (I can feel a "Winter Brighton Hoon" coming on.........!!!

Pete'.
