hi all, well been owner of boxster, for a couple of weeks now , and still feeling my way round the car,
when using the triptronic, dropping down from fifth 3000rpm, to 3rd( two pushes on the button). Revs go to around 5800rpm,then little blip on the throttle and up to 4th. Was wondering if there is a rev limiter at say 6700ish ?

Do not normally drive like i'v stolen the car but unfortunately already becoming addicted to the flat 6 roar!

I have a 2.7 trip & yes the rev limit on mine comes in at just under 7.000 because as you are concentrating on the road ahead your eye does not notice rev gauge so the safety cuts in but if your in the M mod then the car will be still on song. As I use mine on track days great fun.

If you are in manual mode and don't change gear the tiptronic gearbox changes up to the next gear at around 6,800 to 6,900 rpm if you the accelerator pedal is full to the floor. It never cuts out on the rev limiter because the engine management system will not let the engine over rev but will change up gear first.

In auto mode it will do the same if under full acceleration.

I have never heard my engine cut out at top revs. The gearbox / engine management system will take over and either not let you change down to a lower gear, if the revs are still too high, or will change up to the higher gear before engine cut out.

AND ... I have never been fast enough in top (5th in the tiptronic) gear to see when the engine cut over-rev cut out operates. (at around 160mph in the tip S)

Hope that helps.

I think most people will never experience this flat out ..did get near to it on the A9 only kidding ..Was at the Oldtimers and achieved close to that on the autobahn scary at times
