Reverse lights not working

I've noticed that my reverse lights aren't working. So, first thing I checked was the bulbs, but they're fine, but I replaced them with new bulbs anyway. My guess is the fault must then lie in one of the following:

the switch that's activated when reverse is selected;
the wiring from that switch to the bulbs;
a fuse or relay in between

Does anyone have any suggestions how I can check where the fault is and then how to fix it?

I've tried looking on Clarks Garage, but didn't find anything helpful regarding this issue.

Thanks

Not entirely certain with a 944 so may well be talking total bxxxxxks!
But...
on an earlier 924 that I once had the switch was on the top of the gearbox and was available from you local autofactors as it did about xxx VW's as well. IIRC it cost me the princely sum of £5.37 (such an odd figure I remember it!!)
It was awkward to get at but once loose came out very easily. Getting it back in was slightly more awkward - with my arthritic fingers attaching the wires was impossible!! A good friend who runs a garage stuck it on the ramp and we/he did it in 30 seconds...

However.... that was a much older car so like I say may not be of much use....

(Just had a look on the pet and there is an indication that is is still situated on the very top of the gearbox making it very difficult to get at. If there's a switch with two wires on the gearbox top that's it! Also came up with the useful knowledge that the torque settings are 30 nm or in old money do it up til your wrist clicks then back-off a quarter of a turn...)

Thats where the switch is on the top of the gearbox - straightforward if a bit awkward.
Is everything else working - thinking maybe fuse.

Now you mention it, the rear wiper isn't working either. Surely they have separate fuses though?

As Mike said the switch is at the back right of the gearbox standing at the rear of the car. If you are slender enough you don't even need to jack the car to get at it. Can't remember off top of my head which fuse it uses but they are all listed by fuse number and device inside your fuse box lid in the engine bay.

Nope, same fuse on a 1988 924S, which may have been carried over. Horn and indicators (but not hazards) is another peculiar single fuse Porsche solution. I presume they were saving weight for our performance models [:D]

I had this problem on the S2. The wiring to the connector had come somewhat loose, it gathers all sorts of dirt and a good cleaning every once in a while makes no harm.

Hi Stuart
checked last night re fuses but lost internet and phone!
Fuse is the same(Wiper and reversing light) certainly on early cars and I think on oval dash as well.
