Reversing sensors and lights - 54 plate 996!

Hi All,
A few weeks ago my tiptronic selector became harder to move so it went into the garage that I had purchased the car from originally. They cured the problem and only charged for a couple of hours labour.
A week later my son noticed that the reversing lights did not work (when you select reverse the lights flicker on and then go out) and the parking sensors had also stopped working. I have called the garage today to let them know about the problem - they have said that they will get back to me asap.
I think/hope that the problem is due to the garage disturbing or not re connecting the electronics for the two funtions! Has this happened to any one out there and is it a quick fix?
Thanks for any advise in advance.
Cheers
Steve

It sounds like it is all related to the Tiptronic selector. The reversing light switch is part of the multi-function switch on the bottom of the selector. The reversing light switch not only controls the lights, but also the Parking Assistant.
