Revolution Porsche Exhaust silencer bypass

I am very seriously considering the 986 S silencer bypass offered by Revolution Porsche as I'm fed up with the muted sound of my Boxster. I don't want anything too loud and attention seeking, just something that makes it more like the sports car that it is supposed to be. Does anyone here have any experience of this mod and whether they were happy with it/any regrets?

Quite a few people on www.boxa.net have had this mod done by Revolution, I had mine done by Cotswolds Porsche, it's very low key mod, get the engine above 4k and it's a different story, you can be as quiet or loud as you like when you like, and motorway cruising is just fine no drone.

Video of my by-pass mod below, my car is a 2001 986 S

Thanks for the feedback and the link to the video - sounds awesome! I think my decision has been made!!

I ordered a Carnewal last week and fitted it this week, it took me 2.5 hrs, very easy to do.
I have a 2.7 987.1. The sound is louder, not boomy and it has added a nice rasp under hard acceleration.
In all it was a few hundred pounds, definitely worth a look.

Drove from leafy Surrey to Carnewal last week. An easy drive of two and a quarter hours from Calais to Gert's immaculate workshop where he did the exhaust swap in an hour while I sat and enjoyed his wife's coffee and nibbles.

I had researched his service on the net where there are lots of reviews so I went for it.

I couldn't be more pleased!

The sound is much more 'sporty' but not intrusive at all and no different cruising on a motorway at 84mph (or 69 in the UK!).

I guess I am fooling myself but I feel pick-up at 2,000 / 3,000 revs is smoother. However, I didn't do this for performance just to make it sound better. For around £500 you cannot beat it: that is 25% of what the cheapest aftermarket system will cost you.

Go and have a nice drive in Belgium and I recommend an overnight in Bruges on the way back.

You will not be disappointed.

The Revolution bypass is good and I have heard a few. My preference for sound is though the Carnewal, it has, in my opinion, a slightly deeper, richer sound, than others i have heard and is a more sophisticated mod. in that it takes place within the silencer box rather than an external bypass. I think i am right in saying that, Gert can confirm at Carnewal. Not sure if Carnewal do 986's though. If they do then the Carnewal mod. is also available via Revolution at Brighouse, I believe, who can fit the new altered silencer box for you.

Just wondering if you've told your insurance company. They love modified cars as it gives them an excuse to hike your premium... or, if you don't tell them, not pay out if you have to claim.

yep it's all on the policy as well as agreed value as the car is fully loaded the option list cost more than a good new car !
The exhaust actually do not add any really performance benefit just sound and also are just re engineered internal Porsche items.
They look identical to the standard exhaust unlike the Scott and Hayward which are very nice but have all the extra pipes.
