Hi,

I see that Paul at GT classics has a RHD 964RS touring for sale. The mileage is 106K. Is the car known to anyone in the club?
At 106k would you expect an engine and/or gearbox rebuild to be on the cards ? The advert mentions a respray, new clutch and lightweight flywheel as well as new dampers.

Any advice greatfully received

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the forum. I kept an eye on the Britcar series to see how things went for you, but I couldn't find much information you progress. How did you do?

Anyway with regards to the 964 RS Touring. It has had some gearbox work, but from what I can tell it has had no engine work other than a remap by AmD 15,000 miles ago. The engine dynod at 287 bhp. The engine doesn't smoke and feels very strong. The only way to know for sure about the engine is to have a cylinder leak down test performed, which can be arranged.

You can also call Crispan from Oak Tree Garage who you use. He has seen the car many times and indeed did a lot of the work mentioned. He recently did a full service on it, so he knows the car very well.

Hi Paul,

I did wonder if you were about !

I'll ask Crispin about the car and see what he says.

We did a couple of races in Britcar , with the best being a second in class behind the Rouse wonderwagen at Brands GP circuit. We were struggling a bit with it, but Piers Masarati gave us some instruction and did that race as well. (he gained us about 6 places).
We intended to do some more , but my racing partner and co-owner Linus had a major heart attack (he's only 36) at the end of May so that put the kibosh on it.
He's been told to lose some weight and get himself fit and then the cardiologist might give him the OK so we are currently waiting to see about that. The car is sorted now thanks to Mike Jordan.

Hope all is well with you and yours, you seem to have got a lot busier since we last talked

Regards

Paul
