Richard Hammond/Air Ambulance

Does anyone think that collections at various Regional and/or Register meetings might be a good idea so that one large payment can be made in the name of PCGB? It would help the charity, look good for all members who contribute, and help the profile of the club?

It might be a bit difficult to organise but I feel sure that there are those who have collected for charities in the past and who can organise something.

Just a suggestion....

The amount of money raised for the YAA to date is fantastic, and way beyond the original target -

.

However, IMO, future funds should start being distributed to the whole national network of Air Ambulance Services.

Alternatively, individuals should perhaps donate to their own local Air Ambulance Service.

They all need the money, and it would seem to be a more equitable way for the donations to be distributed.

Somebody is motivated enough to take some positive action for a particular cause and somebody else decides to jump in and say 'no everybody - do something else'.
Shame on you.

Where's the problem?

The original objective was to cover the air ambulance costs in rescuing Richard Hammond.

It has since escalated way beyond anyone's expectation and there is now an excellent opportunity to help the whole natonal air ambulance network, thereby benefitting even more people.

I dont see why the club should receive brownie points for donating money to charity, its not really very good taste to benefit from someone elses misfortune. Stuart was asked by a number of 968 owners on the forum to arrange for their donations to be sent to the YAA and he is merely acting on their behalf

Charity donations are a very personal choice but if someone gave some money thinking it was going to the YAA for what they have done for Richard (and many other patients in the past and future) they may not be so happy if it was shared out. After all, if I was going to donate some money to charity I would not automatically think of the air ambulance so why shouldnt they benefit.

Thanks Andrew.

Please chaps in the interests of good taste and just to let this stay on topic and acheive what we want to acheive don't continue and turn it into an argument, I'm just trying to do what I can while the motivation is there in me and others, otherwise possibly nothing gets done. It's the natural way of things, a lot of charities benefit when they get in the news, it isn't a bad thing, again just trying to do my bit.

Cheers,
Stuart.
