Well, here it is! My 'new to me' 2.9 Gen2 PDK in Meteor Grey with Black Leather.

Not as many options as my old S, but enough toys to keep me quiet. I had been looking for a car with PASM, but it seems to be a fairly rare option on Gen2's However, I would say the ride in the 18" wheels is slightly more 'compliant' than my Gen1 with PASM on 19" wheels, which was what I was looking for. Options list includes:

I250 PDK transmission (dual clutch)
I267 Automatically dimmable interior and door mirrors
I268 Rain sensor
I288 Headlamp washer
I342 Seat heating, left/right seat
I446 Concave wheel centers with full-colour Porsche Crest
I454 Automatic speed control
I603 Xenon plus dynamic cornering light
I605 LED daytime driving lights
I610 DVD navigation, "Europe package"
I635 Parking assistant
I665 -2008 PCM 2, 2009- PCM 3 basic module incl. radio
I666 -2008 PCM 2, 2009- PCM 3 telephone (GSM)
I672 -2008 PCM 2, 2009- PCM 3 Offroad navigation
I674 "Vehicle Tracking System" preparation
I677 "Driver card" antenna
I680 BOSE sound package
I810 Floor mats
I870 Universal multimedia interface
IXSC Porsche Crest embossed in headrest

As I was driving to Porsche Centre Swindon this morning, I was thinking "am I doing the right thing?". Driving home I was thinking "yes!" Something that always bugged me about the S was that it always seemed undergeared, and cruising at 4000rpm I always felt it was screaming. With the overdrive 7th gear, the PDK cruises effortlessly at about 3000rpm. I haven't done anything in the way of twisty bits yet, so can't compare that side of its capabilities, but so far I'm mighty impressed.

Only a couple of (not very good) photos at the moment. The salesman almost got the top of my head in the shot, but not quite!

Now off to adjust my signature.....

Nice looking car Richard, look forward to hearing more about it once you've 'explored' it more......

That looks very nice Richard. Hope you don't miss the extra grunt of the 3.4 but you'll find the PDLS very useful for driving the twisty bits at night and not just another gimmick. Will you be bringing it along to the Register meet at Upton House on 13th September so that we can have a better look? Have fun driving the new car. Jeff

Congratulations Richard, I'm sure you'll enjoy that, looks lovely. Hope you never need the "off road" navigation though [:D]

Congratulations, looks a lovely motor, in surely the best colour [:D] Interested to hear more on how it compares to your previous car. Matt

Thanks everyone. I'm really enjoying it, and so far don't miss the extra horses of the S, not that I really missed them when going from the Turbo to the S. 0-60 is about the same for both Caymans, so that's probably one reason, and the PDK is effortless. I'm more impressed with it as I get used to it, and it is in a different league to the Tiptronics I have had. A few photos taken this morning:

Modification No. 1. I managed to get a Multifunction Steering Wheel locally on eBay last weekend. Dead simple to change, and just needed coding in the steering column and PCM modules. £195 well spent, as I missed having it. It is a heated wheel, but there was no connection for it in the 'clock spring'. It looks like a new 'spring' with this feature is about £60, but I'm debating if its worth getting it working. Anybody got one, and how useful is it? Bear in mind that I never use the heated seats, and I also own a pair of gloves!

Very nice Richard! I have lusted after a sports wheel for my Cayman for a while but because the airbag is circular this makes it cost prohibitive (or at least it seems to do given some of the prices. The added complication of needing a blue one does not help. I have tried contacting one of the re-trimmers who specialises in steering wheels but the best they could offer was alcantara or I go and find some blue leather (strange business model but hey ho).
