Ride comparisons and shell differences

I am sure somebody who owns the rs model has driven the a standard car with sports suspension. My question is this how would you compare the ride firmness and quality, is the 993 rs a harsh car to drive in England or is it compliant and composed as compared to a sport chassis 993? How much of whatever it feels like is down to the shell seam welding?
Was the seam welding extensive or confined to sections of the shell, when we say seam welding , i assume it's short 10cm seam welds with similar gaps between, or is it full welds and where?

Depends on the condition and geo of the suspension and also the seats make a huge difference when considering a comparison between the cars.

A well set up 993RS with suspension in good condition is not particularly harsh at all.

A badly set up car on worn suspension, can crash and tramline, making it difficult to drive.

The lsd can help also in certain circumstances.

 
That's good info to know as i have, A a lsd fitted , B a pair of recaro spg's so we are on the way!
Do many rs owners upgrade the suspension dampers and springs or is it good on road and track straight out of the box.

Good to go on standard Bilsteins.....there is far more to an Rs than that, hub carriers, control arms, adjustable uprated roll bars etc...

The standard m002 Recaros are sprung and far more comfortable than spg or pole positions, which may be felt in the ride.
 
Hi Christian, I have driven my friends std 36k miles rs back to back with my car on road and track plus cotswolds and M4 driving up to London and back, the rs is softer than my car (PSS9's, rs anti roll bars, rs front wishbones, solid rear subframe mounts, RS geo on mine, both with lsd mine fitted with SPG's my friends RS std porsche sports (look and feel like recaro's) the bottom line the genuine artcle is relatively soft and compliant on the road, handles v well on track as does mine but rolls a bit more but all the grip is there, mine is harsh and skittery on the road but as good on the track. So the bottom line you can make a 993 handle like an RS on the track but it is not as good on the road :(

One big caveat which made the biggest difference of all, mine is hard and skittery on the road, but still has all the sound deadening in it, the RS on the other hand much more compliant on the road but MUCH less fun to drive as the NVH kills you over any distance as no sound deadening.
