Ride height measurement question

Hi,

I have been doing a lot of research in readiness for my first mod to my car, namely a suspension refresh, and got myself a little confused about ride height measurement. A question...

Do you have to remove the shark fin to measure the rear ride height or have I completely misunderstood the position.

I have studied a lot today about measurement but no mention of removing the shark fin, when I tried to make the measurement I find I cannot get a vertical without removing the fin.

Thanks

Steve

I don't remember having to remove the fin. You might want to remove the rear wheel to aquaint yourself with the measurement point which from the boss on the bottom of the rear suspension arm. Don't forget to drive around to settle your suspension afterwards.

Here is a photo and write up I copied from but can't remember the website that I used when I did mine.

Hmmm, that's not the boss I was trying to measure too. I was going for the one where the trailing arm connects to the chassis mount, I saw it on a photo on Rennlist. I'll check again tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi Kevin, the write up on your website has been a great help to me during my studies on my forthcoming suspension change, it's great that Porsche enthusiasts take the time to share experience and knowledge. I hope to do the same once I really start to get my hands dirty.

Anyway I managed to find the rear ride height measuring point that I was looking for and I did have to remove the shark fin. No measurements taken yet as the car is not fuelled to the correct level. Took a couple of pics whilst I was on....

Hi Kevin, great write up which helped me sort out my suspension when I upgraded to B6's with H&R Greens.

Thanks.
