Ride quality ....

Is the ride quality of the 2007 onwards cayenne comparamised by the effort put in to make it sporty?

I am looking at air suspension models only. I know there are variable settings and wondered if comfortable/soft mode is soft enough. Most reviews seem to state rr sport and toureg are smoother/ softer. Don't want either of them, just wondered how the cayenne compares.

I can't speak for other years or models but my MY13 Diesel with standard steel springs is pretty smooth, didn't bother with PASM or Air in the end as the ride (even on the bumpy Highland roads) is pretty good. Test drove 2012 RRS (I'd owned an earlier 2008 RRS HSE V8 and really liked the air ride on that) but have to say that the Cayenne compared well against it.

My view would be to test drive both back to back if you can, certainly there's less body roll in the Cayenne - and that's what swung it for me - plus the RRS 3.0 is too low on power in comparison.
