Riding the Cresta - who said R1 members were a bit thrifty?!

Well, I'm back from St Moritz in one piece - just! I'd just like to thank everyone who sponsored me to do the Cresta Run. A good thing really, as I couldn't then chicken out of doing it when I got there. You have to do what they call the Beginner package - a briefing, followed by 3 runs under instruction, then 2 flying solo. The briefing starts with a composite X-ray of a complete skeleton, made up of all the serious fractures down the years, just to remind you there is some risk............ As if we needed telling. You're expected to wear tweed and I was quite glad my breeks are brown. [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

I had 2 offs in 12 runs. For those who backed me, I thought you might like to see the first one. Sadly they weren't videoing run 11. I think I was going rather faster and the crash was more spectacular. I'm pretty sure the ribs aren't cracked; it only hurts when I laugh! So enjoy.

Anyway it's a relief to be home without needing the medical insurance and thanks again to all who supported me.

It's definitely the place for a WOTY but only if you like shopping at Prada, Cartier, Versace, Chopard etc etc. My daughter spotted some boots she really fancied, until she was told they cost 1700 francs (about £1100)! I think they were in the sale.

I did meet another rider who has a hotel on the West coast (Port Appin) so perhaps we might go there for lunch on a Sunday drive. I had lunch there a good 10 years ago under the previous management and it was fabulous.

And finally, some different boots:

and for the person who asked if there was a pic of actually riding the Cresta, not coming off:

and right on the ragged edge:

As they say, the most fun you can have with your clothes on! Trouble is, I never got under 60 secs - PB was 60.29 - so perhaps I have to start saving for 2011 and try again......................
