Riviera Blue passenger ride at oulton - thanks!

Just wanted to say that Steve took me for a passenger ride at Oulton and I was amazed at how fast his 993 RS was and how capable it was on track, it was keeping up the 997 GT3 RS boys and seemed much quicker than the 964 RS's that were on track. Steve thanks very much, it really showed me what the cars are capable of.

Unfortunately it made me realise I need motorsport diff plates, new suspension (KW clubsport or OE undecided)and some driver tuition!

ha ha, nice comments from an unbiased 993 rs owner, cheers mate, anytime, hope your mate enjoyed the ride too,
the rs does go well at Oulton, the one thing is the 8/32 king and pinion making excessive gear selection but all good fun,
[:D]

Steve's car was going really well and it sounds mega. Best looking car there too. Nice speaking to you as well mate.

John, good to chat to you, and thanks for the one to one medical advice !![:D] tbh I thought I was not gonna get on, the noise test
had me revving to 5000 rpm with a result of 107 dcb, I suggested the engine was cold and went away to warm it up, the second test
proved better with revs @ 4800 it was around 105 dcb and border line, they let me on but warned me they would be keeping an eye
on drive bye levels, this year appeared to a lot more strict than the last two, I would suggest slightly inconsistent testing however I guess they are only doing a test to guidlines but a bit of leniency would be appreciated considering the cost of some Porsche owners
who have travelled up from the south, paid accomodation costs etc etc, and there was a charity issue for a local family, nuff said.

Interesting I was at Bedford the sat before and they were very strict on noise there as well, the circuit saying that they had just lost a legal case at cadwell and as a result they can hold a very limited number of track days and race days and the circuit cannot now cover its costs, I suspect that the noise nazi's having won at Cadwell have cused us all problems at all the MSV circuits.

BTW having to be noise tested at 5.5k revs is crazy, never been tested at this level before, just passed but had to change my whole exhaust system over the winter (NGT 100 cell cats) as I am sick of constantly having noise test issues, thankfully my new cat by pass system with std cans has passed at Bedford 99.2db and Oulton 104db and doesn;t seem to be strangling colins billet heads

I guess when all the people working at Cadwell loose thier jobs as well as the associated support industry around it i.e. the local hotels and pubs etc, someone local will complain about the lack of jobs []

1. I always think it a little unfair on 911s as the noise meter picks up engine and box in addition to exhaust.

2. The tedious way of the namby pamby world we live in is driving every aspect of our lives towards a dulled down "right on" greyness at the behest of the "new labour" type do gooders.

The sad part of trying to kill off all deviance from the Prius driving, M and S organic world is that variety is so important to society in all its forms from hippies to bankers to footballers to car racers and effectively killing a race circuit can change the character of an area overnight.

Even the Nurburgring has noise issues but look what benefits embracing the place has brought to that community?

Frankly if the noise is an issue, and as it was there first why not move somewhere else?

Sorry for the rant but the health and safety Britain is just a nightmare!!

The same is happening to Croft ..

Somebody moved in close to the circuit (jilted relative of owner --- or so the story goes) --- and has now obtained noise restrictions that will prevent most from using it again.

Specialist cars have just pulled their track days and are looking for alternatives.
