Hi

Just wondering if anyone else is going. Jimbers is booked in + a couple of my friends and I think a few of the GT3 posse will be there. Would be good to say hello to a few forum names.

Let me know if you are planning on going.

Regards

Yoda,

I'm booked in for that one, my first trackday this year so I'm hoping for good weather. Be good to put a few faces to names (i'll be in the bright yellow RS with the red sticker - I always fail the noise restriction test).

Steve

I'll probably be there in my Silver 993RS - unless it is a very sunny day in which case I'll take the Caterham Fireblade

Forecast from the BBC -
Saturday
Sunrise 5:50 (BST)
Sunset 20:11 (BST) 12°C 6°C 13 moderate 1009 76
Sunny intervals

Steve.....seems a pre-requisite to running an RS at Bedders....the red sticker......but I found it made go a lot faster! Look forward to seeing you all.

Hope u bring a passport and had ur Jabs to come so far South Doc !

[:D][:D]

Does anyone know what jabs a northern monkey needs to head south of Sheffield? I'm getting very excited by the prospect of this epic journey!! Better dig out my passport too!

Jimbers/Steve - std exhaust is the way forward, I am not anticipating a red sticker. I just can't be bothered with the noise hassles.

Having said that, it is my first time at Bedford so I'll see what they say.

Look forward to meeting you all there.

F'oz I fear you might be right but I was pleasantly surprised last time at bedders when having failed the standing test they let me out in the first palce and that subsequently, whilst having started off short shifting past the cflearly visible metres when I did throw caution to the wind I didn't fail the drive by!

But F'oz I'd appreciate your insight into the tracks you've driven and what the noise procedures are on Saturday!

Jimbers - I've failed Bedford about 6-7 times and have never had to perform a drive-by test and have'nt been flagged for noise restriction breach even when giving it some stick past the metres.

Steven, Apologies I didn't respond or come and say hi on Saturday. Your car looked very nice, How did you run? I don't know about you but as the next man along, and fortunately quite a way along, watching that TVR lock up and bounce around off the armco on the approach to the chicane on back straight made me re-think the bedford "safe trackdays" mantra a little, even if it was mechanical!

And then I went around with a great guy in a 993 RS called Zuben who'd come past me like I was standing still and was putting serious time into the GT3's, apologies Zub' if I mispelled you......and wow.....now I have a goal!

Good to see the JPM track club out in force and in full effect.....I think between us we must have come close the champagne guys...No?

Good Times!

Jimbers,

I didn't go too bad, still trying my hardest to get healing-and-a-toeing right which I still manage to mess up the majority of the time. I can't dance either so maybe it's got something to do with 2 left feet !.

Pity about the 2 'incidents'. I feel terribly sorry for the TVR owner, and only saw the aftermath of the 2nd. No idea how 2 cars can have a accident in one corner and both be damaged on the off-side rear.

I'm booked in for the 14th May at Bedford with RMA - hopefully we can catch up there. Anyone else going ?

Steve

The 993 RS driver you are referring to is called Zubin, AKA Randeria on PH...

He was very quick. The depressing thing was that my car was quicker than his on the straights, but his skill meant that he went 'round the bends quicker and therefore was quicker over a lap. He was using Michelin Cups on an otherwise standard 300 BHP 993 RS comfort. Impressive. Nice fella as well, very modest.

Johnny, meant to catch up with you but didn't. Yep Zuben was very modest and very quick. Gave me faith that with a bit more practice I could go a lot quicker without modding the car yet! How were you going?

Stephen....I'm out of action for a while but will definately be booking Bedford again. And yes the accidents were both quite bizzare! and the second involved an instructor which was unfortunate!

Hi Jimbers,

I thought I went OK. I was rubbish on the Friday evening with fastrakdays because I had never driven there before. However after some coaching from Steve Rance and after learning the circuit I went better. Funny how slow the Ferraris were wasn't it?

Tell me more about the accident involvng the instructor.....was that the Vauxhall VX? I saw people taping over the damaged rear corner of the car in the pits.

yes I don't know whether you had the pleasure of the second trackside briefing after the second accident involving an RX8 and the VX but the hyperbole expressed by Graham but was somewhat pointless when it transpired that the "overtaking on the corner" was undertaken (excuse) by an instructor.....didn't sound to good on the face of it and the RX8 chap was hoping....though in mitigation it transpired apparently that the RX8 was inadvertantly indicating!

these things are never straightforward or clear cut but I guess I'd expect any instructor, especially when driving to be safe rather than sorry and for any organiser to get their facts as straight as poss before comment/direction. Hey ho!

All that said I was the car following that TVR when it went off and had I been my usual 2cm's from his back bumper I'd've been toast...taught me a lesson I hope. to paraphrase Steve D..."its a track day not real life"
