RMS and Tiptronic Boxsters

This would be better here not in general questions. Its the flu drugs.[&:]
I am the only bidder on a Boxster 3.2s Tiptronic from a finance Co thro' one of the Auction Houses I deal with.(Mentioned it in post to Catherine on Boxster forum) If I get this car is the RMS likely to fail on me or is their less chance of it failing due to tip box?

Car is 01Y (Y319CLA if anybody recognises it) with 30,800 miles, due a big svs(last one in book at 18k at OPC London & not seen by them since).
Lapis Blue, 18" sport designs, good tyres, climate, cd, cruise, heated leather seats in a tan colour, wind deflector, embossed headrests, obc and with one outstanding recall, I haven't found out what that is yet.

The tiptronic suits us and we will use it every day. I had a really good look at it again on Friday and drove it round the yard, looked for all the usual stuff and could not see any obvious leaks, bashes or bumps except the odd scuff and chip, smoke or elec probs.

I love my 968 CS but if I sell it[&o] and the wifes old C70 coupe, my A6TDI 2.5 SE Avant Tiptronic and buy a diesel runabout we are there !

We want a usable Porsche and its time we did the European Tour thing. Well the Scotland tour thing would be a start. We seemed to have travelled the World a bit but not done our own back yard.

Any road up, any advice or suggestions re the RMS in relation to this car would be much appreciated.

Cheers
DPH

The chance with a tiptronic is the same with a manual transmission. It is hit or miss.

The engine is the same. In fact my 2000 2.7 friend with a 5 speed manual transmission has a tiptronic engine. Because when his engine was replaced a few months ago Porsche did not have any manual transmission engines in the US. The difference is a few wires in the engine wiring harness.
