RMS under Goodwill

Got my car back today from my local OPC - RMS replaced with 100% Goodwill (no warranty).

Laughingly the service bod at the OPC said 'its a feature not a fault' - went to the Microsoft school of marketing then [;)]

Maybe we should keep track of the Goodwill payments to try and establish what the "criteria" Porsche have...so I'll start:

Car new June 04, 15,000 miles at time of diagnosis - 100% goodwill.

Now their only design flaw left is the glue used to hold on the coloured wheel centers - should we have another club poll for that [:D]

Yes, the coloured wheel centres can come off - predominantly (so I was advised by my OPC) if you use phosphoric acid based wheel cleaner. They replaced the ones on my old 986S with new centres and I stopped using phosporic acid based cleaner (now use a much more environmentally friendly one that also doesn't sear my lungs if inhaled!).
Since swapping, no problems on my 987S or 997S, so perhaps was accurate advice!

never used any sort of acidic wheel cleaner - only ever zaino z7 show car wash...my local OPC say its a big problem for them and they've tried everything...
 
On the subject of wheel cleaners (apologies for going off at a bit of a tangent here), I haven't found it necessary to use anything over and above my usual car wash stuff.

I wax the wheels once a month with Turtle Wax Extreme and that's it. The brake dust wipes off with no effort at all. [8D]

 
For wheels I just use a wheel brush, then a detail brush, then clay- I never use any wheel cleaner at all.


Has anyone had RMS failure with a 987 yet ?
 
I always put a drop or two of clear glue in the holes of the coloured centres now, even with brand new ones. I've never managed to get the centres off the wheels again using these holes anyway. Once I managed to mangle one completely so I always take off the wheels now.
