Road Angel Halo Accident camera

I’ve been considering one of these accident recording cameras for a while but not managed to bite the bullet yet. Does anyone have any experience of the Halo unit that the club’s shop offers Or any other units?
I‘d also like an in-car video camera to record road trips, such as the Sony FDR3000X. The YouTube vlogger Shmee150 uses this camera and the footage is 4k quality. Will either do both jobs? I don’t need it wired in permanently as I have OPC warranty and would need to remove it when car goes in. Any opinions would be great please.

Although not really an answer to the post, my car has a reversing camera, and the 40 Gig hard drive. Why can't they use the rear view camera when driving as a recording device. You wouldn't have to see the screen , but in case of an accident, the footage would be saved. This would have helped me a few years ago when a big cement lorry smashed into the back of me and then drove off!
Cheers

I think forward and rear accident cameras will soon be standard fit to most cars just as a heater in a car is now a standard fitment Terry

Yes there have been incidents where drivers have been prosecuted for dangerous driving / speeding using their in-car footage as evidence!

That's a given Clive, I'm more thinking about your dash/accident cam being seized in the event of a bump, the rozzers going back through the data and finding that you were speeding 20 mins ago...

Exactly Jimmy. That was what I meant although I agree with Clive re the YouTube footage. I just wondered whether anyone had actually purchased a Halo from the club and what they thought of it, but clearly not.....

I have a next base camera in my van & a Blackvue in my wifes car.

Just bought another next base for the Porsche as the permanent wiring solution in the next base via a piggy backed fuse is less invasive than the blackvue.

Not looked at the Halo so sorry cannot add much, other than to say for me & a targa rear view camera not easy to wire.

Mine both give good footage although fortunately never needed either. Both use wifi so easy to download to a phone to view, although nextbase also has a screen another + for nextbase over the blackvue

Good luck & any camera is better than none

Thanks Paul. I will have a look at the Next Base. I know they haev a camera that goes over the rear view mirror which seems a good idea. Halfords will have them in stock I think - worth a look anyway.
