Road Angel Halo Dash Cam

I am considering buying a Road Angel Halo dash cam, which helpfully includes a separate rear view camera.

Does anyone on here have experience of this set up? If so, is it any good? I'm a bit of a technophobe and so want something of decent quality but simple to use.

The only major downside appears to be the use of sticker mounts rather than suction mounts, thus making it difficult to transfer the system between vehicles. However, they sell front mounts as accessories, thus allowing me to at least use the front camera in different vehicles. Does anyone have any ideas about moving the rear camera between vehicles?

Thanks, all feedback appreciated....

not looked into them before but seem to be an interesting option. Don't like the idea of sticker mounts but suction mounts would be a bonus. i am not entirely sold on the whole dash cam thing yet and as added security while parked it has limited viability but would be if it included radar ;)

Hi Keith,

Did you ever buy the Dash Cam above? What's it like, any good? Its pretty pricey compared to others.

I bought two cheap dash cams in December from Groupon to see what they were like. I definitely think they are useful. I will be buying a better quality one soon. Over Christmas was crazy the number of near misses from other people! Cutting junctions etc... I started to save all the near misses. :)

If I park in pubic carpark, I tend to leave it on, in case anyone decides to drive into my car.

cheers,
Ray

The problem I understand with Road Angel Halo it only supports Windows software and not Mac. Nextbase I have fitted the software supports Mac.

Can I ask why you need any software? Is it for configuring it or something.

I would assume the recordings are in a common cross platform format, like mp4, right?

Ive seen the nextbase, is the video quality good?

cheers!

Hi Ray

After much research I opted for the Blackvue DR650S - HD -2CH instead. More costly, but they sell front and rear mounts and cabling etc separately which clinched the deal. I simply detach the camera units and move from car to the other. The front camera is excellent quality, the rear camera not as good, but does the trick.

The software is for the play back which puts your position on a map. Otherwise you will on,y be able to play the video and sound.
