Road closure

Contra to the local manx radio (lovely station? isn't?- almost as good as energy?), the Sulby Glen road will be closed from September 6th for approx 4 to 6 weeks. This is to make various road crossings for the new pipe-line (water). Once they finish this work, the DoT will repair the road --- ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha---- be prepare for some serious holes.
I don't know if this effects the PCGB visit?
The water works people appear to be keeping this a secret? []
Have fun in the sun.

Improvement works are also commencing at the Jurby Circuit.

What's the general view on this? Lots more track days?

Didn't know about the Jurby track?
What's planned?
I could be interested....[:D] It's something the club should get into - all 3 of us .. sorry... [:(]

Hi

Read the attached link - looks like the improvements are for the bikes only?

http://www.iomonline.co.im/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=871&ArticleID=839119

I think you'll find that Ray Knight and Peter Duke have worked in tandem. Obviously Ray's interest is bikes and Peter's is cars and corporate entertainment.

Yes, the Club (in the IoM), and in fact all enthusiasts there, must keep the momentum going if you are to have the benefits of a proper closed circuit. And you must show your support to the people putting in all the effort. The rewards will be worth it.

In the UK, track days are a huge success. They provide the only real opportunity for enthusiasts to drive their cars fast, exploring their and their cars' limits safely and legally.

If Tony contacts Ray I am sure he would be delighted to show Club members around. And, how about a track day for the Manx Tour?

I didn't know about the Jurby improvements until now - as I've just read the article.

Good news - let's hope the track-days can attract many more users.

I can talk to Ray - any takers who want to see the new circuit now - let me know. Ray and I had a bike v 911 'dice' around the old layout - that was fun.

As far as a track day for the coming manx Tour goes, the article says 19th Sept for completion - but the MT is a week earlier.

Only one point - will the b****y rally boys stay off the new circuit or will they wreck it like before?

Tony,

Send my regards to Ray. I'm sure he will let you have a few hot laps on the new layout.

Let me know how it goes.

Perseverence pays off.

how about a track day for the Manx Tour?

We've been there, done it and got the t shirts (and the scars). We did it in 2000 (2 half days) again in 2001 (whole day) and were up to our eyeballs in members moaning about stone chips. The problem with Jurby is that is is a very safe circuit and a lot of drivers come off almost on purpose and drag rubbish back onto the track. We've had roadsweeper trucks out all to no avail.
I have done a track day there on a bike and for obvious reasons this problem does not happen.
