Go for it! I'm having mine powder coated soon, was going for silver but the red just looks gorgeous, is that for sale? Or just a pic which gave you the idea?

Go for it! I went for silver as apparently that is the original colour (it fades to beige). My top tips from doing this a year ago:
tell the powder coater it's magnesium.
Get it media blasted first then fill in any corrosion with metalik (has to be this or similar otherwise the coating won't stick.

Hope the primer is high temp primer ? If not it might flake off ?

I had one on an old S2 I owned polished to mirror finish with the Porsche lettering in Red , looks good to show off as you open the bonnet to impress your friends or anyone who wants a look at the engine bay !!

That combo you have chosen looks race spec ;) Thumbs Up !

I'm currently in the process of preparing an S2 race engine, have stripped everything down, steamed and blasted it.

I'm almost at the stage where it'll be ready for paint.

I had originally thought about powder coating but was told by a local race engine builder to just use etch and 2k which seemed a bit bonkers initially but apparently powder coat can crack as the cover expands and contracts.

Colour for the cover I'm undecided but I'm tempted to go for something like this http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/928-forum/589721-powder-coating-intake-cam-covers-etc-best-practices-for-the-zillionth-time.html

The bubbled adhesive lettering can be obtained from the states.
