Rocker Switch & LED

Hi, I am an escapee from the Boxster forum who's looking at a probable 964 purchase. I have a likely car at the moment and am trying to get it ready for an MOT after it has stood idle in all weathers for at least 6 months.
Although It appears good mechanically, unfortunately the drivers side of the car is flooded beneath the carpets and I'm stripping the interior to dry out and replace trim as necessary. Whilst there I found a rocker switch with seperate LED mounted on the drivers side of the centre consol that I can't identify. With the ignition on the LED flashes when switched on, but I can't detect what it's doing on or off. It is on what looks like an access panel which covers a relay.
Does anyone recognise what it might be? It looks like they are OE parts to me, but there's no mention of it in the manual.

Oh and the wipers don't work. I suspect that might have been water in the works somewhere, but can anyone suggest where I might start looking for the fault?

It looks like I'll probably buy this car. Are there any 964 owners in the Southampton/Eastleigh/Winchester areas that might fancy meeting up to bring me up to speed with 964 ownership?

Many thanks, Bob.

Hi , The rocker switch is for dis-arming the alarm sensers inside the car, in other words you can lock the car with the windows open, say if there was a child in the car. ( i think)

I think Paul is right - but I think that switch is only fitted on cabriolets - you didn't mention if the car is a cab or not.

Regards

Dave

Thanks Paul, Dave, alarm sensor disabling seems logical.

No the cars not a cabriolet, but I'll try it out.

Any ideas on the wipers not working?
I checked out the fuse obviously, and found that the relay is only for intermittant wipe. There doesn't appear to be one for normal 3 speed functions. Is that right?

Bob.

sometimes my drivers side window motor siezes up.. I can get it working again by tapping the end of the motor casing with a spanner while operating it up and down.. might be worth trying that out incase its just stuck from being stationary for a while..
