Rockingham 24th May Classic Rock

It came to my attention yesterday, at the R20 meeting, that a few of us from the London area are planning to go to this do, and that people (including me) seemed a bit vague as to what was going on on the day.

So, I thought that I would do several things by posting this here:-

1. To see if anyone wants to/is going to drive in convoy to the track. I have to stop in Hatfield on the way, to pick someone up, but that shouldn' t take more than a few minutes.

2. I checked Rockingham/MGCC web sites for info, with little effect. So, I emailed the MGCC today, asking for info, and saying that I would post it on this site for all to see.

3. I have already got my trip around the track booked (mind you, having done so on the recent photo shoot day there, I wonder why I' m doing it again), and these seem to start at 18:00, so convoy back may/may not be on.

Feel free to contribute - as if I could stop you !
Me, I' ve hardly done any posting on this forum !

Where' s Hadfield Is it a place, a concept, a planners dream?

I also have a ' place' It' s number 1 Why? Is it that there are so few bookings? They have seen me drive? They want to see how bad the rain is?

Looking forward to other Porkies who are tracking. Keep the thread going!!!!!!!!!

Actually Ian, I don' t know either. And the fact that I spelt it Hatfield makes your question even more confusing !

My email to MGCC got bounced back after 4 hours, but it will keep trying for 5 days - so, I may even get an answer.

Hi John

I know you said that you are emailing people to try and find out more about this event but I know absolutely nothing about it. Hence, would you be able to tell me where this is taking place (there are quite a few Rockinghams on streetmap). Is it just a track day?? Is it a mainly Porsche event?? What else would there be to do if you bought your missus.

Apologies for all the questions but I' m quite interested and know zero about this event!!!![:)]

The story so far:-

Saurday
Practice 09:00 - 12:00
Racing 13:00 - 18:00 (ish)

Sunday
Practice 10:00 - 12:30
Racing 13:30 - 18:00 (ish)

Both days a mixture of MG, Morgan, Jaguar,Open, etc. (mostly British sports cars) racing.

Some club/trade stands (approx. 10 club/unknown number of trade).

The chance to drive round the oval, Saturday 18:00 - 20:00 (don' t know about Sunday). I have already booked my place (no 3), but, for those who haven' t, and if there is space available, places can be booked/paid for on the day at the MGCC stand.

I just ' phoned MGCC (01235-555552), and this is what the nice man just told me.
