Rogue MAF

Having seen Frenchy's post regarding the Vitesse MAF system, I thought I'd do a thread about this as I've been following progress for some time now through Rennlist.

Has anyone else been considering one or at least waiting to see how they come out cost wise ? It seems like it'll be a great bit of kit from the work that's gone into it. Guys there are raving about how good the A tune setup is.

As soon as the M tune is available I'm gonna try to get one sent to a friends house over there I think...............

There seems to be a lot of good things said about the Vitesse Maf. The trouble that I have with buying a maf and a piggy back is that I could buy a stand alone ecu for not a great deal more. You can get a Link G4 for about £900 with a 944t loom for $250. I have priced up rolling road set up at about £300. I think I will go standalone in the future.

He's not talking about the Vitesse Kit, but the new kits that Rogue Ant from Rennlist has developed.

Knowing Joshua (Rogue Ant) these are going to really cool - and at a very reasonable price.

Ah, That does look good value for the money. Have they indicated a price for the AFM M tune kit?

I asked Joshua (by email) at the weekend, but I don't think he is ready with a price for the full M-Tune kit just yet - should be soon though.

No price yet as Graham says. Hoping it's soon though as I'm going to the States at the end of May and hoping to bring a package home with me. Looks like it will be a good 'out the box' solution for Maf, plus being the first UK car running it would be cool too [8D]

OK, Joshua says that the M-Tune kit should be available in "hopefully only a couple of weeks".

It is out with pre-release testers at present.

Also, the price should be somewhere around 1000 usd.

No, I didn't mistype that.

"Somewhere around 1000 usd".

Of course, there will be shipping, import taxes etc, but even so!

Per Joshua, "the M-Tune is a complete MAF conversion, including :

MAF/Intake pipe
MAF sensor
IAT sensor
plug-n-play wiring adapter
MAP sensor & wiring
MAF pipe to turbo coupler
BOV to intake pipe hose
45* coupler
air filter
joiner
low-profile T-bolt clamps
chipboard with software.

Basically everything you need to convert to MAF and drive away."

Of course, you will also need boost control and appropriate injectors if you wish to turn the wick up....

As I see it, the big difference to any other kit out there is that it converts the WOT tables to 3D tables that take MAP input to optimise timing and fuel for the level of actual boost in real time, which is pretty cool, and also to transition smoothly from the 3D Part Throttle tables to improve throttle response.

Very tempted.....

Sounds good value, would be interested to see how much it would be with the piggy back aswell. Just spent £££ getting 3" exhaust, poly bushes all round with elephant racing rear castors and solid rear arb mounts and torion bar mounts. Need to start putting money aside for the rogue.

Yeah pretty much what I'd been told - looks like good value, and I think its pretty clear that the support is there if there are in problems installing etc. (though I wouldn't expect any given the level of testing before release). for a one man effort in the beginning I think he's done q remarkable job and its come out looking very professional, giving the big vendors a good run for a lot less money. I just wonder if he can make the kits fast enough to keep up with demand ? I can see them sweeping the board in the usa [:D][:D]

Rogue has made a great product here for a really good price, he is also a really nice helpful guy. I'm working on another DME tuning product and Rogue is always happy to help and provide support. Top guy and its about time someone gave the likes of Vitesse a big kick for selling such average kit at such a premium price! It's great to see the 944 tuning scene is going from strength to strength dispite the fact the cars aren't getting any younger :D.

The trouble is, it's making my head hurt!

I have only just fixed a very long standing issue I had that prevented me from reliably running high boost (anything over 16-17psi) and I've now got the car pulling really well with the Link MAP kit.

I have also recently started making my own chips and have spent quite a while setting up TunerProRT and expanding the chip definitions so I now have as much control as you usually only get from a stand-alone. I've also just bought an emulator so I can tune in real time on a dyno which I'm hoping to do in the next few weeks.

Now Josh brings out these 3D WOT maps, which are a huge step forward but run on a chipboard so my emulator and TunerProRT setup won't work with it.

I would therefore lose the ability to DIY tune.

But then, the 3D maps probably mean you don't need to as the setup will adapt to most changes you will possibly make - turbos and boost levels etc but not things that affect the VE (like big valves and cams - fancy a cam next!), or changing displacement.

Then again, he's now talking about a piggyback tuner that will give you all those tuning options back - plus other features .......

And do I really want to swap MAP for MAF anyway?

Plus, who knows where you will get to with your DME project??

Doh!

Nice options to have to think about but I need to go and lie down now [:D]

I will have the first hardware in a <month GPF. Rogue is interested in getting a sample board so I might try and dissuade him from opting for a nasty piggyback based system and use a properly engineered solution ;). Enjoy what you have for now :D.
