Roll Cage Camera Mounts

OK guys, as per the thread title what do you use and where do you mount it?

I am looking at the Dogcamsport basic roll cage mount, the one attached with jubilee clips as I believe it will pass as being secure enough. As I don't have my car to hand I can't really play with where to mount it on the cage, probable needs to get up on the X brace to get high enough.

You'll likely need both a clamp and a ball head to orient the camera correctly. You can pick up a Manfrotto Superclamp via eBay for quite a bit less than dogcam would sell one new, eg: Item 250608382605

To pass scrutineering youll need a separate tether on the camera: on the off chance that you werent aware.

Cheers guys, thanks for reminding me about the tether Simon, I remember reading that one before but had forgotten about it. Camera wise it looks like I will just use a normal digital camera that happens to have video recording. We did a little experiment today with Stephs Sony pocket camera. Result was pretty good, certainly good enough for youtube or just watching lines etc. main problem was poor sound but this is a common factor. I might be selling my Olympus DSLR to buy one of the higher end Panasonic cameras, these puppies record HD, if I can pick one that takes a mic input then I can do something like put a mike up under the dash or in the engine bay.
