Roll cage - Group buy???

Alright chaps. I'm looking to get a roll cage of some description early in the new year, and I know there's a few more of you out there who are interested in one. Is this a good opportunity to pool our collective buying power to drive a bargain?
Of course, this would rely upon us all wanting the same arrangement (or similar I guess), and to my mind the 2 best solutions are as follows:

1. The roll/harness bar that Peter had made up

2. The Rollcentre Racing bolt-in solution

3. EMC option?

My thoughts...

1. This option would suit me because it looks well-finished and easy to install. I think it may also suit others with a less extreme interior because it can be fitted with the rear seats in place. However, as discussed in the thread, I would prefer some triangulation if possible. Peter, if you read this, would a group buy be of interest to the maker?

2. For roughly the same cost, this seams to offer a more complete solution, but is also more extreme. Would also require fitting (and painting). I would probably go for the whole package, including door bars. I'm not too fussed on the door bars themselves but I would like the front cage and would therefore need them.

3. Can't say I know too much about them but t hey have certainly been mentioned regarding roll cages on here before. Aren't they safety devices agents?

Would do you think guys? Is there an appetite for this out there?

Thanks.

Peter's is a safety devices rear cage (he bought it from me several years ago) - I think he's added a harness guide bar. It fits fine with the rear seats still in (but they are unusable)

Did anyone get anywhere with Heigo? - I think John Sims was looking at that?

Depends which Peter you are talking about.????
PJS917 Peter had his made + is definately not a Safety devices cage....
Ive seen it in the metal + can say it is a GOOD one....

Yes it's PJS917 Peter I'm reffering to. Peter, can you get a price with the additional diagonal?

Ben. I realise you were talking about PJS,, But im not sure edh is.????

Just a quick note .....I had a Roll centre cage and had to weld it my self as it came as a kit because at the time (and im not sure if things have changed) they only done a cage for a car without a sunroof so i had to make a few adjustments before welding...also you do still have to weld two plates inside the car so you can bolt the front part of the cage down.

Steve.

Sorry - was thinking of Peter Empson [:)] (didn't look at the link)

Oi, leave me out of this [;)] :ROFLMAO:

Btw haven't forgotten about the sunroof (alright, I did a bit) but am visiting the bodyshop next Monday, will give you a shout afterwards.

sorry Peter - no rush with the sunroof.

-We're all looking forward to the next gripping episode on your website after your visit

Hi Steve, did you sell your S2 with the rear seats in or not? Just wondering because if you did and you took the rear carpeting out I'd be v interested in it!?

I will post some better pictures of the cage later, I will be taking the S2 for its MOT in the morning so will take them then. I am really pleased with the cage. It has made the middle of the car more ridgid as well as providing extra protection. It has passed scrutineering, and been admired by several scrutineers throughout the year.

Ideally to make a group buy worth while it would be best to make them in batches of 3 and above.

Count EMC out: Kev isnt stocking Safety Devices cages now.

That is certainly news to me -- as I am having one welded in to a new racecar shell in a few days time at EMC !!!

Hi Paul, that's sounds interesting! Have you got another car in the works or have you had a problem with the tango one?

From the horses mouth. An exact quote wouldnt mean a deal after the swear filter had finished with it though.

Ben,

Please can you give me a call regarding prices, I have spoken to the manufacturer and I have prices with or without diagonal bars. It will still be too expensive for some, but hey ho can't please some people any of the time[;)][;)][;)]

Pete. Hes cornering the market in race cars....[;)][:D][;)][:D]

Excellent, I'm looking forward to hearing some details and specs[:D]

Not a new car and no problems so far with the Orange One. Am doing the whole of the PCGB Club season in 2009 and want to have all the bases covered -- it would save a bucketload of time if it is needed. My maxim is plan for all eventualities -- but for now not planning to use it at all!!

Paul

ps 944man -- Kevin has some strong views about the use of rollcages, maybe you misunderstood him - he is known for his charm in such matters. Yes, his new stock is expected in a few days.

Thats fair enough, I only know what he told me the other week when I was there. Are these SD cages: because he was adamant that he wasnt bothering with them any more?
