Does the forum ever get involvede in organising rolling road sessions ?

When I had a E30 BMW various of the forums would hold sessions at a reputable rolling road and get one of the BMW magazines to come along to run a feature article which always brought in good attendances.

Yep, been done many times at Weltmeister and last time down near Bournmouth. You need enough people interested, it usually comes off the back of someone needing to test the car and everyone else joining in!

There's also talk of a Register day involving dyno and weighing facility, Tony or Harriet - any further news? [:)]

There's currently a 944 day being organised on the Wirral on 20th June

I'm hoping to be there myself but can't confirm just yet

I asked Steve Bennett at 911 & Porsche World and he says if one is being organised the mag would like to be involved.

Maybe we can keep the mags 911 & Porsche World and GT Porsche informed of anything happening so we get more features run about the front engined cars.

I'm aware of the rolling road event in the north west, is anything being considered in the southern part of the country ?

I remember when Steve Bennet joined Car & Car Conversions as a trainee writer / tea boy (I was only a lad at the time)

Not currently planned, but we should have one. Have you looked through Rick's site at his posting of previous results?

What it needs is someone to organise it. With the busiest ever year for events we're spread very thin at the moment! []

Sounds like a plan. I'm going to do a baseline at-the-wheels run on my S2 engine at the local rolling road, just to get an idea of AFRs and the current shape of the curves, rather than any amounts. If there is an interest, I'm up for planning a proper RR day say in October, ideally getting a few more NA cars along (I know 944T results are dead sexy, but this does make getting an overview of the rest of the 944 range a bit tricky..).

I went to a couple of TVR ones when I had a 4.2 Cerbera, and they were surprisingly illuminating...

Ah yes TVR's. It is always immense fun watching TVR owners at dyno days and at Vmax. Their face and posture drop considerably when told their 340bhp beast barely makes 260bhp and then they get outdragged to the timing gear at Brunters by a Boxster.
