Expect to see the largest collection of aero engines in the country, ranging from World War I era piston engines, to the famous Merlin, right up to modern day jet engines. The collection also includes examples across the Rolls-Royce product range including marine and industrial applications. We hope to be joined by a number of enthusiasts who will be displaying their vintage cars, some of which hark back to the early days of Rolls-Royce and the start of the motor car era. There are examples of engines and motor cars from other distinguished names such as Bristol, Armstrong Siddeley and Napier, companies which became part of the Rolls-Royce group in their latter years.
A service commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be held in the location of the Spitfire and War Memorial on the Osmaston Road site, at 12:15 pm. The duration will be approximately 20 minutes. Please feel free to join.
Weather permitting, the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine will be run at the Osmaston Road site at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
Buses
From the city centre to the Osmaston Road site: Numbers 60 and 61 (Derby to Chellaston route) run every 10 minutes. (A free return shuttle bus can take you to our Exhibition at the Learning & Career Development Centre).
