we have been invited to visit Rolls Royce aeroengines own private museum at the Training centre Victory Road (just off the A5111 at peartree roundabout) Derby.

meet in the car park (mind the speed bumps) and park under the big silver Rolls Royce sign for photos. by 4.30pm.

the museum covers the whole story of the company and includes some early cars and planes as well as cut away engines.

the training centre itself has full working engines from the current complete range and (hopefully if we are not running late) we will be taken on a guided tour around these aswell.

im also trying to get the lady who runs the Rolls shop to stay behind for us as Rolls do some great gifts/clothing at very reasonable prices.

Tour of Museum is FREE. there is a staff canteen with vending machines for refreshments so you'll need change for these. security is strict so i will need to know names in advance. (ladies the loos are 5* as its part of Roll Royce VIP visitor centre)

last call..

theres still a few spaces left for the RR visit. just e-mail me full names of you and any guests your bringing (for RR security)

remember this museum is RR private collection and is not open to the Public. they are not charging us a bean. [8D] though donations to the heritage trust are always welcome

I dubious honour of working for RR in Derby and can recommend the Heritage Centre. It's a great collection of historic engines that show the evolution of early aero piston engines, including the infamous Merlin engine that powered the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancasters, through to the modern day military and civil jet engines. There are pleny of models and cut-away engines to look at including engines from other companies that RR has procured over the years. It'll give you a nice warm fuzzy 'proud to be british' feeling!

hopefully we should also get a guided tour around the training/development centre too which has whole (just about 1 of every type of engine Rolls has ever made)engines being worked on

i can also confirm that the Rolls Royce shop will be open untill 5pm they do some very nice stuff so bring your money [8D]

quite a good turn out
